Surgimask Usage
Surgimasks are essential for protecting both the wearer and others from the spread of infectious agents, especially in healthcare and other high-risk environments. Here’s how to properly use a Surgimask:
-
Before Putting on the Mask
- Clean Hands: Always wash your hands with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer before touching the mask.
- Inspect the Mask: Check the mask for any damage or tears. Do not use a damaged mask.
-
Wearing the Mask
- Correct Orientation: Ensure the colored side (usually blue or green) is facing outward and the white side is against your face.
- Fit the Mask: Place the mask over your nose and mouth, and secure it with ear loops or ties. Adjust the nose strip to fit snugly over the bridge of your nose.
- Check the Fit: Make sure the mask covers your nose, mouth, and chin, with no gaps on the sides.
-
During Use
- Avoid Touching the Mask: Try not to touch the front of the mask while wearing it. If you do, clean your hands immediately.
- Replace When Necessary: Change the mask if it becomes damp, soiled, or after a few hours of use. Do not reuse disposable masks.
-
Removing the Mask
- Remove Safely: Take off the mask by handling the ear loops or ties, not the front of the mask. Dispose of it properly in a trash bin.
- Clean Hands Again: Wash your hands immediately after removing the mask.
